Welcome to What’s Up? Wednesday!

Is it Christmas yet?  Not only is it the Mid-Week slump, but it’s leading up to one of the best Sundays of the year.  It’s all so much pressure!!!!  I guess I need to escape the Christmas vibe even though this week is supposed to be all about Christmas!

Anti-Christmas Mid-Week Slump

If you haven’t seen one of my previous posts, What’s Up? Wednesday is a weekly series of posts highlighting either:

  • blog posts or news that I’ve read this week
  • something that I’ve watched on Netflix or “regular” TV
  • a podcast worth checking out.

Volume 008: Anti-Christmas Mid-Week Slump

Watching Nightmare Before Christmas doesn’t make me a scrooge does it?  I love watching movies and Christmas movies always warm my heart, but with it being hump day of  Christmas week and the kids being out of school, we needed a little bit of a change.

What about reading something non-Christmas themed book?  I was approached this week to do a book review.  As a creative writing major I spent about half my college career critiquing books or other writer’s materials.  I even worked on a literary magazinge at one point which was a great experience.

I’m a little bit nervous.  I want to do a good job and hopefully get invited by other people to critique books.

Have you heard of Lisa Renee Jones?  I haven’t, which I guess makes me a good candidate for doing a book review.  From what I’ve read of this book this is book one of 3 in a series about the main character, but this character looks to have been a part of another series.  Kinda reminds me of my Fan-Fiction days when there would be an off shoot on someone’s favorite character.  I can’t wait to get some more time to finish the book!

From Amazon:

The New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of the explosively sexy Inside Out and the Secret Life of Amy Bensen series will seduce you with this sultry tale of possession and ecstasy, wild fantasies and dangerous secrets—first in the racy and suspenseful Careless Whispers series.

In Denial: Inside Out (Careless Whispers), Ella awakes alone in Italy, no longer sure of who she is. One thing is certain: a gorgeous man has claimed her as his own. He’s tall, dark, and sexy, the kind of rich, powerful man who makes a girl long to be possessed. And possess her he does, whispering wicked promises in her ear, indulging her deepest desires, stealing her trust—and her cautious heart. Soon, though, she discovers that nothing is as it seems. The truth will shatter her world, but it will also set her free…if it doesn’t destroy her first.

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones, whose searing novels generate “enough heat…to start a fire” (RT Book Reviews), dares you to fall in love with her irresistibly surprising and scandalously erotic new series.

Something new for the new year…

One more of these and then the new year hits.  I’ll be continuing this series but without the What’s Up? Wednesday titles.  Over the last few weeks I’ve realized that unique titles are more interesting for readers.  If you bombard people with the same title and volume numbers they don’t seem to be as interested as if you posted something with a specific title that happens to be volume xxx of the series.  Definitely keep a look out for Wednesday posts, but don’t expect the same old boring title every time!
